How does one create great digital signage?
As with traditional print advertising, everything from the font chosen to the colours used makes a difference when advertising your brand.
With digital signage you also need to take into consideration the size and shape of your screen as well as the timing and location of campaigns. Here are some of NowSignage’s tips on creating great campaigns.
1. Make sure all text is legible, both up close and from a distance.
On screens, black and white text is best for legibility with colour used in the background, images and headlines. Contrast is key! Light text on a dark background or visa-versa is by far the easiest to read, anything more challenging will likely be ignored. It is recommended to increase the text 1-inch in size for every 10 feet of distance from the screen and to use sans-serif fonts.
2. Use engaging visuals!
Why else go digital? A digital screen supports dynamic pictures, animations or even custom widgets. Keep brand imagery consistent by using brand colours throughout your screens and experiment with the rest! Have a catwalk video running of your latest fashion line, or a live twitter feed showing customers raving about your products. Keep content concise and clear! NowSignage software includes social components for Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, Vine and many more. The only limit is your imagination!
3. Timing is key
Make sure the transitions between slides aren’t too fast for the intended audience to digest. Studies have shown that too much movement or a high frequency of transitions distracts the viewer and reduces the efficacy of the advertising. Leaving one screen image on for too long can also be detrimental as the dynamism of digital media is lost. Keeping each slide to just under 10 seconds maintains a dynamic and interesting display.
