NowSignage Release Notes - App Version 5.3.31

We've just released version 5.3.31 of the NowSignage app, bringing a handful of enhancements and streamlined processes across several areas of the platform.

Below is a summary of what's changed.

Weather Widget Improvements

The weather widget has been refreshed with updated animated icons and improved scaling, so it'll look sharper and stay proportional across different layout sizes and screen configurations.

Free Text Overrides

You can now display free text overrides on your screens. This means text-based override content created in the CMS, including custom titles, body text, fonts, and colours, will render correctly on supported devices. This works within the existing overrides scheduling workflow, so no changes to how you set things up.

Multi-Zone Sync

Layouts running content across multiple zones can now be synchronised so all zones play in step with each other. This is useful where you want coordinated playback across different areas of a screen. No additional configuration is needed beyond what's already available in the screen sync settings.

Samsung Tizen 5 Portrait Scaling

Tizen 5 devices running in portrait orientation will now automatically detect and apply the correct scaling settings. Previously, this required manual configuration in the CMS — that's no longer needed.

Auto-Provisioning (Lamasatech Android 14 & Samsung Tizen 6.5+)

Supported devices will now attempt to auto-provision on first launch using the device's serial number. This is primarily aimed at large-scale deployments where serial number PINs have been pre-configured in the CMS.

If you're not using this workflow, you'll see the serial number pre-filled in the PIN field on first launch. Just clear it and enter your standard PIN as normal.

Various Bug Fixes

YouTube playback. An issue causing YouTube videos to fail with Error 153 has been resolved. As a result of the fix, videos may now include standard YouTube advertisements during playback.

Gapless image transitions on Android. An issue affecting transition performance has been resolved.

⚠️ Legacy platforms (WebOS 3.2–4.1, BrightSign Series 3–4) are not supported in this release.
